Mark Ruffalo Smashes Boris Johnson Over Hulk Brexit Boast

Mark Ruffalo smashed Prime Minister Boris Johnson's boast the UK would exit the EU like the Incredible Hulk.

The newly anointed PM told the Mail on Sunday that Britain would break out of its "manacles" if a Brexit deal could not be reached by the fast-approaching deadline of October 1, but his threat was quickly countered.... by the Hulk himself.

"Boris Johnson forgets that the Hulk only fights for the good of the whole," Ruffalo tweeted on Sunday, with a link to the newspaper's front page. "Mad and strong can also be dense and destructive."

"The Hulk works best when he is in unison with a team, and is a disaster when he is alone. Plus...he's always got Dr. Banner with science and reason."

In less than 24 hours, the tweet racked up 114k likes, 28k retweets and 2.7k comments.

The Avengers gags came thick and fast, as many applauded the actor's stance on Britain's contentious decision to withdraw from the European Union.

However a sizable number also insisted "Hollywood" keep its nose out of the United Kingdom's affairs.

Britain has been a member of the EU (then known as the European Communities) since January 1, 1973.

In a referendum held on June 23, 52% of the British public voted to leave, and a deadline of March 29, 2019 was set.

However a continuous failure to negotiate a withdrawal agreement has seen the deadline extended twice, with the current one just over six weeks away.
