Cody Simpson Has Been Into Miley Cyrus Since 2012, Called Her His 'Childhood Celebrity Crush'

Just as Hailey Baldwin gave hope to fangirls around the globe after the self-proclaimed Belieber landed Justin Bieber himself, newly resurfaced video offers that same hope to fanboys, as Cody Simpson has apparently been crushing on Miley Cyrus since 2012.

Back when he was just 15 years old, the up-and-coming singer gave an interview to music network Fuse where he talked about his long-standing interest in the former Hannah Montana. "I knew all the words to her songs, I'm not going to lie," Cody said, referring to Miley as his "childhood celebrity crush."

"I'm not ashamed about it, at all. I was a big Miley Cyrus fan," he said. "I think she will be forever the most dateable Disney star."

Cody has been making headlines with Miley in recent days for their very public burgeoning relationship, including an early-morning makeout session captured by TMZ. All of this comes just weeks after Miley's split with Kaitlynn Carter.

But while Miley has been defending herself against slut-shamers in the media and on social media for daring to like someone and show it publicly, the couple has slowly been making even more public gestures of affection for one another.

On Sunday, Cody shared video to his Instagram Stories of him and Miley lying together and serenading one another with a classic from The Spiral Staircase. Now, perhaps they just love the song, or there could be meaning behind them singing to one another, "Oh, I love you more today than yesterday / But not as much as tomorrow."

And the couple have been exchanging flirty IG images all weekend long. On Saturday, Miley threw up a pic of Cody checking off his age (22) and abs, while also noting that he was "Australian (my type)." Fellow Aussie Liam Hemsworth filed for divorce from Miley back in August after a decade-long relationship.

Now, the 26-year-old pop star is enjoying the dating world, if not the public scrutiny that seems to be coming along with it. "I know the public feels invested in my past relationship because they felt like they saw it thru [sic] from the beginning," she wrote in a lengthy Twitter message on Friday.

"I think that's why people have always felt so entitled over my life and how I live it because they've watched me grow up...but I am grown now and make choices as an adult knowing the truth/details/reality. People only 'know' what they see on the internet."

""This 'dating' thing is new to me too. I've never been an 'adult'/ grown ass woman experiencing this," she continued, expressing that she'd rather not be forced to just "Netflix and chill" by keeping her dates to her home.

The "Mother's Daughter" singer also said that she's just trying to "thrive" and "survive" in a "man's world," throwing some some shade at President Donald Trump along the way. "If we can't beat em, join em!" she wrote. "If our president can 'grab em by the p---y...' can't I just have a kiss and acai bowl?!?!" (referencing that date captured by TMZ).
