The fake island went viral in November but we can now finally see Styles' gloomy vision as he discovers his fish for a soul.
On November 20, 2019, the Twitter account @visiteroda tweeted out a call to pay a trip to an island paradise.
But despite the fact that Eroda had a website, a Facebook page and even a YouTube channel, the island simply didn't exist, on Google Maps or anywhere else. People on the internet were flummoxed, and within hours, a subreddit was created to discuss the topic.
Eagle-eyed 1D fans realized that the elaborate island setup was actually a fictional playground for Harry Styles' latest single "Adore You," off his upcoming sophomore album "Fine Line".
Eroda might not be as nice as the marketing videos make it seem, though -- it's a gloomy place with perpetual cloud cover, where The Boy (played by Harry Styles) is shunned by his neighbors for a smile so bright it sets umbrellas on fire and blinds people everywhere he goes in the official music video released on Friday.
Dejected by the frowns of his neighbors, The Boy loads his pockets up with rocks and heads to the beach to drown himself in the ocean. That's when he meets an unlikely savior: a fish flopping around on a rock, stranded from its shoal.
"Loneliness is an ocean full of travelers trying to find their place in the world," narrator Rosalia says as Styles and the fish stare each other down.
Apparently taking these words to heart, Styles takes the fish in and cares for it even as it starts to grow at an alarming rate. They watch TV and eat tacos together, and just as we're trying to figure out what we need to do to turn into a fish, Styles' companion (now about the size of a small car) breaks out of its glass tank and starts to suffocate.
