
A rep for the singer said she died "after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland."
Legendary singer Tina Turner has died at the age of 83, a spokesperson revealed Wednesday.
The representative told Sky News: "Tina Turner, the 'Queen of Rock'n Roll' has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland."
"With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model," the rep added.
The star's Instagram also announced the sad news Wednesday, writing: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow."
"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly," the message concluded.
Turner was born as Anna Mae Bullock in late 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee. She went on to achieve fame in the late 1960s with the Ike & Tina Turner Revue.
Tina left Ike Turner following years of abuse. She defied the odds and launched an epic comeback -- considered one of the greatest in music history -- in the 1980s with giant hits such as the aforementioned "What's Love Got To Do With it," "Private Dancer" and of course "The Best."

The singer's life story was committed to celluloid in 1993 hit film "What’s Love Got To Do With It", starring Angela Bassett as Tina and Laurence Fishburne as Ike Turner.
There was also a Broadway musical about her titled "Tina – The Tina Turner Musical."
Turner's son Ronnie died at age 62 in December. His death was preceded by his brother Craig, who died by suicide in 2018. Additionally, she had two adopted sons, Ike Jr. and Michael.
Turner went on to marry German music executive Erwin Bac, who she dated for decades, in 2013.
The two lived in Switzerland, with the iconic singer becoming a Swiss citizen. Her second husband donated one of his kidneys to her in 2017 amid health complications.
Upon news of the music icon's passing, celebrities across social media paid tribute, while Beyoncé took over her website's homepage with her tribute, including an iconic image from their "Proud Mary" duet at the 50th GRAMMY Awards.
"My beloved queen. I love you endlessly. I'm so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way," wrote Queen Bey. "You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion. We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done."
