Saying the Reiners were among her "closest friends," Shriver said they had dinner together this past week, calling them devoted parents to "every single one" of their children before urging others to show compassion -- even if "we have a president who can't."
Maria Shriver came out hard against Donald Trump on Monday, following the president's disingenuous statement following the horrific murders of Rob Reiner and wife Michele.
According to TMZ, one of the couple's daughters found them dead from apparent stab wounds last night, telling police a family member killed them. Their son Nick was arrested on suspicion of murder and, as of Monday morning, is being held on $4 million bail. Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has not yet determined criminal charges.
Everything We Know About Rob Reiner & Wife Michele's Three Children
View StoryWhile many took to social media to share heartfelt tributes to the pair, Trump appeared to blame the Reiners' deaths on the director's very vocal criticism of the president.
"A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before," he added, concluding, "May Rob and Michele rest in peace!"
Upon seeing Trump's post, Shriver took to X with a fiery response.
"I try to rise above the noise all the time, but this individual has no human decency. This goes beyond. It’s absolutely disgusting," she began. "We should all be horrified and disgusted by this inhumane behavior, because that’s what it is."
"Rob and Michele Reiner were good, kind, loving people. They were good human beings and good friends to me and countless others. Their family is in deep, unimaginable pain," she continued. "What kind of human being would share a statement like this, much less a president? Rob and Michele would tell me to just ignore him, but I can't. I just can't. And I hope you don't either. They deserve so much better, as does their family."

"They deeply loved all their children and they never gave up trying to care for them. Every single one of them," she continued. "It's important to know this and understand this. This is not a time for judgement, for politics or rumors. It's a time for compassion, for understanding, for love. Just because we have a president who can't do better doesn’t mean each of us can't."
Her posts come after she shared an initial tribute to the pair on Instagram, calling them some of her "closest friends" while revealing she just had dinner together this past week.
"I loved Michele and Rob Reiner ... We raised our kids together, from mommy and me on up. We laughed together, we cried together, we played together, we dreamed together," she wrote. "We had dinner this past week, and they were in the best place in the their lives: loving one another, loving their friends, their family, their country."

View Story"They never gave up on our country. They wanted to make it better. They always, always wanted to make our world better, and they were willing to fight to make it the country they loved," Shriver continued.
She added that the two "loved their kids so much" and "never stopped trying to be really good parents" before their untimely deaths.
"My love is with their family. I'm so sad for them. I'm devastated, gutted, shocked, stunned, and so deeply saddened, as are all of the people who loved them and who they loved. I hope people remember them as two deeply talented, kind, fun, loving, good, patriotic people who loved each other deeply," she continued. "I'll miss you, Michele. I'll miss you, Rob. I love you both. Thank you for your friendship. God bless you both. Life will not be the same without you here, that's for sure. ♥️"
