Twitter is exploding over a marriage proposal gone awry that just aired on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Jacob wanted to surprise his girlfriend Jodi by asking her to marry him on live TV, but to his horror she shook her head and cried, "I can't, I can't!"

Pretty convincing right? Even the audience was excited about the prospect of witnessing a proposal (just check out the woman in red over "Jacob's" right shoulder clasping her hands in anticipation).
Turns out it was all a hoax just to introduce Ellen's 12 Days of Giveaways. Ellen's YouTube page confirmed it was all staged, saying "Ellen had a surprise for a member of her audience with a proposal. It didn't seem to be going too well, but thankfully, it was the 12 Days of Giveaways!"
Of course, the audience's horror turned to delight once they realized all the free stuff they were getting.
To get rid of any doubt, "Jacob" is really Ross, an "Ellen" staffer used in a similar hoax last year. So if you see a tall bald guy on the show, chances are it's a prank!
