Christina Hendricks embodies Old Hollywood glamour.
With her porcelain skin, fiery red hair, and womanly curves, she stands out from the tan, blond, stick figures that litter Tinseltown. In the August issue of Lucky magazine, the "Mad Men" star talks about dressing her famous figure and why she brushes off critics. Click below for photos from her Lucky shoot and read on for highlights.
On dressing her famous curves: “I have to be careful about my proportions and keep it simple,” says Hendricks. “What works for me is structure and something that shows my waist.”
On her least favorite outfit: “It's really hard to find a bathing suit if you have breasts,” she says. “You either get smooshed down or there's no support. My husband and I have sketched out designs.”
On prepping for the paparazzi and fashion critics before a red carpet event: “I try to remain calm and remind myself that this is a fun, lovely event.”
On her go-to designers when stepping out on the red carpet: “Vivienne Westwood for drama, L'Wren Scott for her perfect tailoring and body consciousness and Zac Posen for whimsy.”
On why Hendricks, a natural blonde, dyed her hair at 10: “I was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables, so I wanted red hair,” she says. “My mom said, 'I'll throw a rinse on it.'”
On how she's integrated some of the Mad Men style to her own wardrobe: “I collect animal bracelets. I got my first one off the Mad Men set; they let me keep a horse cuff I fell in love with.”
