Ali Landry knows what it's like to be in the harsh Hollywood spotlight.
The former Miss USA married Mario Lopez in 2004, only to have their marriage annulled just two weeks later over his alleged infidelities.
That experience landed her on list of shortest celebrity marriages ever and affected her relationship with other men, including her current husband Alejandro "Alex" Monteverde.
As part of her and Alison Sweeney's new reality show "Hollywood Girls Night" (premiering this Sunday at 9pm on TV Guide Network), Ali confides with celebrity girlfriends Kyle Richards, Tracey Gold and Sheryl Underwood just how deeply affected she was by her first marriage.
Watch Ali's reveal her secret below:
Toofab recently caught up with Ali to talk about the dinner party-centered show, her celebrity friends and motherhood.
toofab: What do viewers have to look forward to in your new show?
Ali: We bring in different gals every single week and have some really great conversations, sometimes shocking. My main concern was, "were these conversations going to be candid even though there are cameras around?" Because we shoot at our homes, I think our personalities are really relaxed; we're just normal girls and we speak openly. I think it's made everyone really comfortable and the conversations have gotten stronger. At the end of the day, this is what you want. You want the viewer to feel like they're a part of the dinner party. We have skits where we talk to experts or different themes, so it's really fun.
toofab: What are some of the different themed parties you've have?
Ali: We've had a passion party, a Hollywood Glamor party, this week we are doing unforgettable -- the kinds of things we feel that makes a woman unforgettable. We're going to do a poker night and we'll do a pajama party where everyone takes off their makeup.
toofab: You have a lot of celeb gal pals. Who is your celeb BFF?
Ali: I would say Alison and I are really good friends and Kyle Richards from the "Real Housewives" is another dear friend of mine as well. This was the main reason we did this, because we would see a lot of our friends or people we are friendly with at events and parties, but we would never really make time to get together to really develop that friendship. And because everyone is so busy with work, and this is one of those things that you really have to make time for, we've really created some pretty special friendships.
toofab: Do you do mixology?
Ali: We do try to do some mixology at our parties or specialty cocktails but it was getting way too complicated for me to do with my amateur skills. The last one I made we called Everything Is Coming Pp Roses, and I took little rose buds and froze them and I used vodka, rose flavored syrup, and club soda and cute ice cubes. They were really cute drinks.
toofab: Do you and your guests do any cooking?
Ali: We haven't had a competition yet, but we definitely all will bring a dish of something. So everyone walks in with their dishes that work well with our theme. I always try to do something super creative, I kind of go over the top. I've done a seafood gumbo. I've done these delicious cauliflower mashed potatoes. Kyle Richards cheated and brought things from a Beverly Hills cheese shop. Cheryl Burke cheated too; she brought sushi from Katsuya but we didn't complain.
toofab: So how do you balance being a mother and work?
Ali: Like everyone else, I'm still trying to figure it out. I don't have the answer. I start out every day with the best intentions to give all I can to my family, my husband, my kids and my work. But at the end of the day I always feel like someone or something always fall short. And I think as a mother that's a guilt we always feel all the time for our child, but you can't be everywhere at once. It's absolutely a struggle, I'm not going to lie.
toofab: How did you lose your baby weight?
Ali: I still haven't, I have about 10 more pounds to go but I've lost about 12 so far. I started back on my program called Chef Diet, where food is delivered and I've used that before and it worked really well for me. I have been working out with my trainer twice a week and then I added in two more days a week of cardio and so I got 10 pounds in a month.I wish there was a way to get it all off quick but it's eating healthy and exercise -- that's all you can do. I knew I was going to be back on camera immediately after birth so part of it for me was frustrating not being able to fit in my jeans, but then I look at my beautiful baby and I don't mind it. I know that I am doing everything I can and I will eventually get there so I'm enjoying the process.
