Katy Perry may be comfortable wearing whipped cream bras and singing about kissing girls, but she wasn't always so open.
The 27-year-old pop star was raised by two evangelists and had a very conservative upbringing. Her parents forbid her from listening to secular music. In fact, her first album -- under her real name Katy Hudson -- was gospel rock.
Katy's childhood is part of the appropriately titled documentary "Katy Perry: Part of Me," which chronicles her career from church singer to global superstar.
Check out Katy and her siblings describing just how strict their parents were when it came to TV, music, and even what cereals they could eat.
"Katy Perry: Part of Me" opens in theaters July 4th weekend.
