After five years of marriage, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have split.
The couple, who have daughter Suri together, are planning to divorce.
"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," says Holmes's attorney Jonathan Wolfe. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
Tom, 49, and Katie, 33, tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at a castle back in November 2006 ... the wedding was attended by David and Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
This will be Tom's third divorce. He was previously married to Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers.
Update: According to TMZ, Katie is the one who filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." She is asking for sole legal custody and "primary residential custody" of the couple's 6-year-old daughter, Suri.
TMZ also says Tom was blindsided and "did not see this coming."
A rep for Tom says "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out."
