While it seems like a horrible time to promote a new movie in light of his divorce from Katie Holmes, the brand new trailer for Tom Cruise's next flick just dropped online today ... his 50th birthday.
After the bubbly musical "Rock of Ages" bombed at the box office, Tom is moving into some much darker territory in his next flick, "Jack Reacher."
Here's the synopsis for the movie, which is based on a series of books:
When a gunman takes five lives with six shots, all evidence points to the suspect in custody. On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: "Get Jack Reacher!" So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.
It's definitely a gritter role for Cruise, who shows off his abs and kicks some major butt in the sneak peek -- and that's how his fans like him. "Mission: Impossible" anyone?
