What is it about kids that make them such great horror film villains? Their innocence? Their ability to release blood-curdling screams?
"The Possession," which opens today, features one such creepy child. Natasha Calis plays Em, a fun-loving young girl who suddenly becomes detached and violent. Her parents (Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan) think the changes in her behavior are due to their divorce. However, Em's transformation is due to the influence of a dybbuk -- the Jewish word for dislocated spirit.
Em becomes increasingly attached to the dybbuk box that houses the spirit and horrible things start to happen. It's up to Em's parents, her sister Hannah (Madison Davenport, the spitting image of a young Lindsay Lohan) and a rabbi's son named Tzadok (reggae star Matisyahu) to save her.
