"The Walking Dead" returns October 13th, and an extended preview of the upcoming season has been released!
A significant time has passed -- six or seven months -- since the events of Season 3, which saw the deaths of longtime characters T-Dog (IronE Singleton), Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), Merle (Michael Rooker), and Andrea (Laurie Holden).
Rick (Andrew Lincoln), the Atlanta and farm survivors, and Woodbury residents have made the prison their home, but the threats of zombies and The Governor (David Morrissey) are ever present.
Despite larger numbers and the relative safety of enclosed walls, a new danger emerges, one "not really walkers and it's not other people," co-executive producer Denise Huth reveals.
Find out more in the extended preview below:
Our theory? The survivors fall prey to some type of disease. Shane's (Jon Bernthal) death by stabbing and re-animation in Season 2 showed that a person doesn't have to be bitten to turn into a zombie.
As the residents succumb to the disease, they turn into walkers, creating a threat from *inside* the prison walls.
A few other observations: Hershel (Scott Wilson) gets a prosthetic leg, while Beth (Emily Kinney) is nowhere to be seen -- although her character is now a regular on the show.
Plus how cool is it see Carol (Melissa McBride) finally toughening up and even holding a "story time" with kids teaching them all about knives!
