It's hard to believe that "The Blair Witch Project," the movie that launched the found footage genre, turns 15 years old today.
Back in 1999, Heather Donahue became a household name after she memorably filmed herself crying in terror in the spooky flick. So, where is she now?
A few short years after the film's release, the actress' acting career stalled. She embarked on a new venture as a medical marijuana grower and released a book called "GrowGirl: How My Life After The Blair Witch Project Went to Pot" about the experience.
"I took all my stuff into the desert related to my acting career and burned it all," Donahue told the Philadelphia Inquirer in 2011.
"The acting projects I was lucky enough to work on weren't always things that I felt good about putting out into the world," she said in a Q&A on her website. "I didn't see that getting better as I got older. I wanted to change my life, see what else was out there for me, what else I might become."
These days she tells toofab she doesn't do interviews related to "Blair Witch" at all -- but did once admit that she stole her blue ski cap from the film's now infamous poster.
"That's the only thing I kept," she also told the Inquirer. "I figured if things got really bad, I could always sell it on eBay."
Donahue did end up living in Nuggesttown, California with a group of pot growers, before eventually trading in growing for writing after a friend got busted.
She also has a line of health "potions" called Prettywell, which she sometimes sells on Etsy.
