Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) is temporarily trading in his sad love songs for an upbeat cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids in America" on next week's "Riverdale."
In an attempt to keep his classmates and alumna in good spirits at Homecoming after everything that has happened since Jason Blossom's murder, the ginger heartthrob is joined onstage with recent hookup Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes).
"Crazy music in this thing man," star Luke Perry told executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa at a recent press screening of the upcoming episode. "You never get that. There's people in big movies and stuff trying to get that and they can't and I was like, 'You got that song!'"
For those playing at home, the song was memorably featured in the 1995 teen classic, "Clueless."

"One of the nice things that wasn't intentional was the idea that [the parents] all went to high school together," Aguirre-Sacasa explained. "And then what we realized was, 'Oh, this is great! There's a shared history and they know secrets about each other that their kids don't know."
One of those secrets will be revealed when Mrs. Cooper (Madchen Amick) confronts her former classmate about her return to town.
"Riverdale" airs Thursday at 9 ET on The CW.
