"Riverdale" star Charles Melton thought it was "beautiful" to watch Sheriff Keller (Martin Cummins) finally accept his son's sexuality on Wednesday night's episode.
"That was probably one of the most emotional scenes I've seen and it's just like love conquers all because it's all about love," Melton told TooFab.
This week, Kevin Keller (Casey Cott) started to satisfy his desires with random hook ups in the woods, until Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) caught him. She demanded he put an end to his forrest rendezvous since there's a killer on the loose. Kevin, however, made it clear he didn't care what she thought, saying it's difficult to be a gay man in a small town... especially with a father who pretends his sexuality just doesn't exist.

View StoryWhen Betty realized her best friend wasn't going to take her advice, she went straight to dad. Although mum was usually the word on Kev's sexuality, Sheriff Keller finally decided that it was time to not only recognize his son is gay, but also accept it.
"Just to see the support that Kevin gets from his father for just being who he is, it's a beautiful thing, especially in this day and age," said Melton. "I think 'Riverdale,' the show as a whole is so now, so today. There's so much going on that can be reflected as far as what's going on in society."
"I think it's a beautiful thing to see what we're seeing through the show and a lot of people can connect with the different storylines, different characters and different encounters," he added.
"Riverdale" airs Wednesdays at 8pm on The CW.
