'RHONY' Bad Apple of the Week: All the Housewives React to Drunk Luann Resisting Arrest in Palm Beach

Police footage showed Lu completely intoxicated and out of control, yelling at cops and threatening to hurt them. She even managed to slip her hands out of the handcuffs she was put in, which Carole Radziwill couldn't help but call "amazing."

Following the arrest, Luann "decided to seek professional guidance" and checked herself into a 21-day alcohol treatment center in Palm Beach. Dorinda Medley was the first Housewife Luann called.

"Well, you know, I'm doing good," she said to Dorinda during the call. "I'm in the right place, so this whole thing that happened to me -- I can hardly believe it, first of all. I thought I could handle it, but let me tell you, all these emotions coming back, all these memories came back -- and you know, I'm not blaming it on that per se, it's just all of it together was too much for me to handle. I'm not proud of what happened, that's for sure. I'm not proud of what I did, but I'm learning a lot about myself."

"I'm finally dealing with what I was trying to drink myself out of, which is dealing with my emotions from the marriage to Tom," she admitted. "And I knew that I needed help to get that under control, but I didn't ask for it. And you know what? I hit a wall. I just wish it hadn't been a brick wall."

During the episode, it was revealed that Luann's ex-husband, Tom D'Agostino, was also in Palm Beach at the time -- one year after they wed. He was throwing a New Year's Eve party on the same boat he and Lu had thrown their engagement party. And if that weren't enough, the hotel Luann was arrested at was the same hotel she held a brunch for all her wedding guests. Luann and Tom's marriage seemingly fell apart before it even started, and the two filed for divorce 7 months after tying the knot.

"This was the plan," Luann later told Bravo cams. "I got invited to a wedding for New Year's Eve in Chile, so I flew into Palm Beach and decided I wanted to stay with a girlfriend for one or two nights. Nobody will even know that I'm in town, we will not even go out, and then I'll go to Jupiter and spend Christmas with my family. And, uh, yeah -- that turned out a little different than I planned."

"I go for lunch to one of the places that Tom and I used to go to -- and sit in the same seats!" Lu continued. "Then I go for cocktails at an Italian restaurant that we loved and that we sat at the same place and had vodka martinis. And then I wind up in the hotel where I had a luncheon for all my guests before they left. Why did I do that to myself?"

"The call to my kids was really tough," she continued. "The call to my mother was really tough. The last person I want to disappoint in this world is my mother. My mother's always been so proud of me, so that was rough. This is rock bottom. You can't get worse than getting arrested. It's rock bottom, but I'm thankful for it. In a crazy way, I'm thankful because it made me look at myself in ways that I never would have."

"Luann's away right now, right? I haven't spoke to Luann. How's her spirits?" Ramona Singer asked Dorinda.

"She's good. I haven't spoken to her much, either," Dorinda replied. "I think she's just trying to really check out and get better and just not listen to the noise. Sometimes, God stops what you're not recognizing you need to stop, and I don't think she was in a good place before Christmas."

Ramona said that Luann told her she had been "self-medicating."

"This was not pretty," Ramona later told Bravo cams. "This was not pretty. We can all drink a little too much, have a little too much fun -- but this was an out-of-control situation that became public, but worse than that, the police were involved. And that's bad."

Tinsley Mortimer was actually in Palm Beach the night Luann got arrested and told Bravo cams, "I was a few blocks away from where this whole thing went down, and I feel badly for Luann because I know how it's probably gonna be taken in the press and go in a million different directions. Palm Beach is one of the smallest places on this Earth. There are only a few restaurants to go to and hotels to stay in, and she knew that her chances of bumping into Tom in Palm Beach were pretty much a given. She risked it, and it didn't work out that well for her."

During a phone call with Carole, Tinsley said she reached out to Lu after the incident and said, "Babe, I'm in town. Come over to my mom's -- let's have a drink," which Tinsley admitted she probably shouldn't have said.

During her confessional, Carole said she "got a call from a friend who said Luann had been arrested in Palm Beach."

"I assumed she had been drinking and driving," Carole explained. "I said, 'Oh, my God! She has a DUI.' Then I Googled and I found out that it was a little bit more complicated than that. I was scared for her because that's not a good place to be."

Bethenny Frankel also had some thoughts on the matter, telling Bravo cams, "I have no idea what Luann's perspective on rehab and her arrest is. You know, with Luann, you can have a myriad of emotions. Luann can deny and blame, accept and evolve, cry and be vulnerable -- there are a million ways Luann can handle this. I mean, she's had a shit year. You don't plan a wedding and have a wedding and the cheating and the cheating and the cheating -- and then have it crash and burn and not be affected. So now I think the pressure cooker just exploded."

Later at Bethenny's Skinnygirl Jeans launch party, Dorinda chatted with Tinsley about the ordeal. "I'm not gonna say I saw it coming, but I never believed that all was well," Dorinda said. "This is the thing that I think about the whole Luann thing -- we all knew that something was gonna happen. I mean, who goes back to the crime scene?! She's a crime-scene goer! You know those people that are arsenics? Why get a hotel room in the place where you had your wedding brunch?"

By this point, Bethenny had joined the conversation and was stunned to hear the news.

"Because she wanted to look like she was OK!" Tinsley yelled back. "And Palm Beach is this small. Where she was was literally in the prime spot of everything. Point is, she wanted to be seen, and I get it because she wanted to look like she was OK, but what happened was she got so drunk."

During a later confessional, Sonja Morgan said, "When I first saw the news about Luann being arrested, I texted her right away and said, 'Oh, God.' I know that Luann is strong and she is a proud woman and she will get through this. I just wanted her to know that I'm there, but I'm not sticking my nose in it."
