Ivanka Trump just added more fuel to the fiery nationwide backlash over the situation unfolding at the U.S.-Mexico border. .
After President Donald Trump signed an executive order to keep immigrant families detained at the border together, instead of placing children in a separate detention facility, Ivanka chimed in with her first public statement on the matter. She thanked her father for "taking critical action" to end the practice, which of course was the result of the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" immigration policy.
How Hollywood Is Helping Immigrant Children Separated From Parents at U.S. Border and Beyond
View Story"Thank you [President Trump] for taking critical action ending family separation at our border," she tweeted Wednesday. "Congress must now act + find a lasting solution that is consistent with our shared values;the same values that so many come here seeking as they endeavor to create a better life for their families."
Considering Hollywood and beyond has been busy lashing at Trump over the inhumane treatment of migrant children, Ivanka's statement didn't go over well.
Judd Apatow, Andy Cohen, "This Is Us" producer/director Ken Olin and Netflix star Michelle Wolf were among those trashing Ivanka for the tone-deaf tweet.

He has traumatized thousands of children. I can scarcely imagine the anguish of their parents. Your father's brutally cruel policy of tearing children from their parents has been profoundly distressing for us too

There's something unhealthy in your relationship with your father. He was hurting children. You sat by in silence. Now you thank him for stopping? What did he do to make you what you've become, Ivanka? 🙁
@AuthoringAva
Nope. We are not idiots. You cannot take credit for a problem that you caused and fucked with over 2000 children, toddlers and infants.
@AvalynnSmith
Put a sock in it. No one is buying your bullshit.
@ThoseShavers
Seriously? You wait until daddy signs an EO to reverse HIS decision to rip children from their parents... & you're thanking him? Not one damn word from you all along. You are useless & complicit. You should be ashamed of yourself as a mother. You have no values to be shared.
