Chelsea Clinton Fires Back at Donald Trump's Mean Tweet: 'Were You Giving Our Country Away?'

Trump's tweet came early Monday morning, in response to backlash he received over the weekend for allowing his daughter, Ivanka Trump, to take his seat at a G20 Summit meeting.

Trump tweeted, "If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother,as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!"

Clinton's eldest daughter quickly replied, "Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me. Were you giving our country away? Hoping not."

Before calling out the Clintons, Trump defended his decision to let Ivanka take his place in the meeting by calling it "very standard."

On Saturday morning, a Russian official tweeted (and then deleted) a photograph of Ivanka sitting in between British Prime Minister Theresa May and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The move was heavily criticized, as a BBC correspondent noted that when a president isn't available to take his seat in meeting for whatever reason, it is usually filled by a high-ranking member of his office.

The image caused immediate backlash on social media, many calling out Ivanka for being immensely unfit for taking her father's place in the meeting.
