Fox News star couches her anti-immigrant position with "it’s not about race or ethnicity," but her critics aren't buying it.
Laura Ingraham is once again being blasted for racism.
The Fox News host, who was previously roasted by Hollywood and beyond after telling LeBron James and Kevin Durant to "shut up and dribble" instead of talk politics, is under fire for trying to make the case on her program Wednesday night that immigration -- both legal and illegal -- is ruining America.
In a segment she called "the left's effort to remake America," the conservative TV personality argued "the America that we know and love doesn't exist anymore."
"Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people, and they are changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don’t like. From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically, in some ways, the country has changed," she said. "Now much of this is related to both illegal and, in some cases, legal immigration."
She went on to tell her viewers about four instances of illegal immigrants or refugees hurting people while in America, and demanded more border protection. She tried to tell her viewers "it’s not about race or ethnicity," but her critics didn't buy it.
"Anchorman" director Adam McKay retweeted journalist Oliver Willis' thoughts: "Watch that Laura Ingraham video when you're feeling a bit wobbly about being involved in politics. Look into the face of absolute evil to remind you of where you stand and the America you're fighting for."
"Ellen" producer Andy Lassner pointed out to his followers that Ingraham's monologue was endorsed by former KKK leader David Duke, who tweeted, "One of the most important (truthful) monologues in the history of [mainstream media]."
Those are just a few of the 82,000 tweets and counting that are spilling into the Twitterverse as the backlash -- which of course includes threats to boycott her program's sponsors -- continues to brew. We're eagerly waiting for "Grey's Anatomy" star Ellen Pompeo to chime in, considering she wanted to throw down with Ingraham for targeting King James.

I mean, but in Laura Ingraham's defense, who among us can't say we slipped up at a major American political party's recent national convention and gave a Nazi salute?— Jeffrey Wright (@jfreewright) August 9, 2018

This is what Native-Americans could have said almost 500 years ago. Every one else after them, descends from, or is an immigrant...Except for slaves. cc: @SecretaryCarson https://t.co/FHmzCLj1yx

Not to damn her with faint praise, but Laura Ingraham has plenty of feck.— Michael McKean (@MJMcKean) August 9, 2018
Laura Ingraham and the far right see multiculturalism as a sign America lost itself. Wrong. It’s a sign that it found itself. Our greatest accomplishment isn’t Christianity, military, Silicon Valley, NFL, Hollywood or Wall St. It’s being the world’s most successful melting pot.— Adam Best (@adamcbest) August 9, 2018

Laura Ingraham has been a bigot since college. She was literally disciplined for targeting and harassing people as a college student. She's a lifelong bigot.— Shaun King (@shaunking) August 9, 2018

Laura Ingraham comes about as close to saying immigration equals white genocide as I've ever seen (that, by the way, is a typical white supremacist trope). https://t.co/ywGKOsfT5n— Eric Deggans at NPR (@Deggans) August 9, 2018
