"Southern Charm" star Thomas Ravenel has quit the series amid sexual assault allegations made against him.
"I'm not doing the show anymore," the politician and former South Carolina State Treasurer tweeted Tuesday from his now-private account. "In the contract, they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I decided I've got too much to lose and informed them I'm not coming back."

View StoryBack in May, Ravenel's children's former caretaker, "Nanny Dawn," accused Ravenel of raping her in January 2015. She said she decided to bring the claim to the attention of Charleston police after hearing the story of Florida-based real estate agent Ashley Perkins, who publicly accused Ravenel of assaulting her mother, Debbie Holloway Perkins, in October 2015 after the two met on Tinder.
Perkins claims her mother told her that Ravenel "stuck his penis in her face" and held her arms back while sticking his fingers inside her vagina and anus. Perkins said she did not witness the assaults but that her mother eventually confided in her. According to Perkins, her mother is unable to publicly discuss the case because she signed a non-disclosure agreement negotiated by attorney Gloria Allred as part of an alleged $200,000 settlement with Ravenel. Perkins, however, was not bound to the agreement and came forward with the allegation in April of this year.

"My client enjoys a certain degree of fame, which has unfortunately made him a vulnerable target for such claims," Richard P. Terbrusch told People. "The person this woman describes is simply not the man that I know. My client is a loving father, successful businessman and upright member of the community. He is appalled and hurt by these allegations -- and is committed to defending his reputation in the appropriate legal forum."

View StoryIn early June, several outlets reported that Bravo had decided Ravenel would not be returning for future seasons of the show. Cast members were under a strict gag order pending completion of the Season 5 reunion last month, which Ravenel did not attend.
Police will continue their investigations of the accusations, and Ravenel will not appear on Season 6 of "Southern Charm."
