The black-and-white segments introduced the seven members of the red-hot South Korean boy band with Colbert giving his best Ed Sullivan impression throughout.
It's been decades since a musical group has captured the excitement of its fans, as well as the screams from its female ones, like BTS, so it's appropriate that Stephen Colbert paid tribute to The Beatles' American television debut to help set up their "Late Show" debut.
Filmed in black-and-white and channeling the look and styles of the '60s, Colbert transformed into Ed Sullivan with a hilarious homage to the father of the modern late-night talk show. And he touted how exciting it was to have these boys on his show exactly 50 years after The Beatles made their appearance ("Plus 5 years, 3 months, 6 days") on the same stage.

View StoryHe even adorably introduced each of the seven members of the boy band, where we learned that RM is "a nice boy," V is "a good boy," J-Hope is everyone's hope, and Jin is "worldwide handsome." Suga, Jimin, and Jung Kook just kept it gracious or simple, though it would turn out they didn't even need all those introductions.
After all, we can just call them by their nicknames, which is even easier than remembering seven different names. That's because, with a little assist from his audience, Colbert revealed that all seven of them are nicknamed "the cute one." So at least you know you've been describing them right.
While the whole thing was absolutely adorable, and a wonderful homage to the incredible popularity of The Beatles when they crossed a different ocean than BTS, the best detail was the girls in the studio audience dressed in '60s garb holding hand-crafted BTS posters.

But if we're being totally honest, we're probably most looking forward to Colbert-Sullivan's next guest, Vice President Hubert Humphrey.
