Nick tells Andy Cohen it's a "buzz kill" when fans run up to him and his wife and quote Jessica Simpson.
There are few things we enjoy as much as nostalgia, and Nick Lachey is just full of it.
The former frontman of 98 degrees and ex-husband of Jessica Simpson stopped by "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" Thursday night to take several different trips down memory lane. Though he's now happily married to Vanessa Lachey (the couple have three children together), Lachey was happy to indulge Cohen, the audience and several curious callers.

Nick has no regrets about "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," the reality show he filmed with his then-wife, because he says it gave a "platform." However, neither he nor his wife Vanessa appreciate it when fans run up to him and quote some of the show's most famous lines, i.e., "Is this chicken what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it...it says 'Chicken by the Sea.'" According to Nick, "that's a buzz kill."
"That show gave me a chance to kind of show who I was," he explained. "'Cause when you're in a boy band, nobody really knows who you are as a person, so although that chapter of my life is obviously closed, the show gave me a great platform to say, 'Hey, this is who I am.' And I got a lot of fans to this day because of the show."
"It does fascinate me, though, that it's been 15 years, and people are still talking about it! They think about it like it was yesterday," he added, noting that he and Vanessa "don't sit around and watch it at the house, if you could imagine. It's not [for] family viewing."

Nick famously went on one date with Kim Kardashian in 2006, six months after his split from Jessica. He's said in the past he believes she tipped off the paparazzi that night.
When a caller asked him whether he ever heard from "his ex" after he dressed up as her and her then-husband, Kris Humphries, while guest co-hosting "Live" with Kelly Ripa on Halloween 2011, Lachey was quick to clarify that referring to Kim as his ex was "a little bit of a liberal use of the term."
"I think we went on one date together," he said. "But no, I never did hear from Kim on that one. Ironic timing."
"That was an interesting one because I was hosting with Kelly, and we played Kim and Kris Humphries at the time," he recalled. "I was on stilts and the whole thing. And then maybe 20 minutes after we wrapped the show, they announced their divorce."
Pressed by Cohen for more details on his short-lived romance with Kardashian, Lachey revealed the two went to see a matinee showing of "The Da Vinci Code."
"She left about halfway through and went to the restroom, and then shockingly, there were 25 paparazzi when we left the theater," Nick said. "I think there were other things in play on our little rendezvous."
"Couldn't be a nicer girl," he added. "We had a great time. But no, we don't keep in touch anymore, to answer your question."

Though the pop group went on hiatus in 2003, Nick still has fond memories of the band he formed with brother Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre. But given that it was Halloween, Andy said the Bravo Clubhouse was "haunted by the ghosts of Nick's 98 Degrees bandmates." It was their monograms, and not Cohen, who posed the "shady questions."
"Jeff Timmons" appeared to ask Nick which boy band he felt was the most overrated. "I would go with an English boy band," Nick replied. "There was a group called Five, which we toured with years ago, and I legendarily hate Five. So by default, yes, way overrated."
Then "Drew Lachey" showed up to ask his brother which 98 Degrees song still haunts him to this day. "The one I actually probably least like to perform is 'Una Noche,'" Nick replied.
Last but not least, "Justin Jeffre" appeared to inform Nick that Justin Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, recently revealed she doesn't know any NSYNC songs. He then asked if Vanessa knew any 98 Degrees songs. After a smile and a brief pause, Nick said, "She does now!" adding, "She will be the first to say that she was not a fan of 98 Degrees. She was more in the NSYNC groupie category. So unlike Jessica Biel, she knew every NSYNC song but knew none of our songs."
