TooFab contributor Anna Quintana spoke with Anna Jimenez at TotalBeauty.com for a list of the best cosmetics to have on hand for a day in the sun.
“The last thing you want to do is go to the beach looking too dolled up,” said Jimenez, associate editor at Totalbeauty. “You want to look natural.”
To avoid raccoon eyes, there is L'Oréal Voluminous mascara and New York Color waterproof eyeliner. Both are under $10, and are made to last.
“It will stay on while you are splashing in the waves,” Jimenez said. “You won't have to worry about it coming off in the ocean, and it's great against sweating.”
For glowing skin that will last through hot summer days, turn to Too Faced's Aqua Bunny Bronzer, which is water-resistant and controls shine.
“It just came out, and it's the first of its kind,” Jimenez said of the waterproof bronzer. “Also, it has SPF, vitamin E and chamomile, so it's good for your skin.”
Smooth skin at the beach is also possible with Lancôme Effacernes waterproof concealer.
“You don't want to worry about covering zits at the beach,” Jimenez said. “It's a concealer that is sure to stay on.”
To bring some color to your summer look, turn to EmphasEYES Amazonian Clay waterproof eye shadows from Tarte Cosmetics, which come in a variety of high pigment colors and can double as a liner.
These beauty products will last against the harsh summer elements, but when it's time to remove there is Urban Decay's Meltdown makeup remover, which is sure to leave your face clean and fresh.
“It doesn't have that alcohol burn and it doesn't dry your face out,” Jimenez said. “It leaves your skin feeling good.”
Whether you are splashing in the waves or working up a sweat in the sand, these products will have you glowing and feeling confident. However, the most important beauty product for a day in the sun: sunscreen.
