"I love your song 'that's what makes you beautiful'!" Carey joked.
Everyone makes mistakes, even Mariah Carey.
While appearing on Sirius XM's radio show "The Morning Mashup", pop duo The Chainsmokers -- made up of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall -- recalled a hilarious story of meeting the pop diva at an awards show. According to Pall, Carey mistook them for members of the former boy band One Direction.
"I was like 'Oh my God. 'Fantasy'! 'Honey'! And she was like 'Dude, I love you guys!'" Pall said. "And we were like 'What, you know who we are?' And she was like 'One Direction, right?"
It looks like Carey realized her mistake as she tweeted a video of the interview. The "Hero" singer showed that she has an incredible sense of humor by joking that she loves The Chainsmokers' song, "What Makes You Beautiful." As you probably know, the track was one of One Direction's hits.
"@TheChainsmokers of course I know you!!" Carey wrote. "I love your song 'that's what makes you beautiful'! 😂😘"
The English-Irish pop boy band, which was made up of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik (before his departure in 2015), never officially announced that the group broke up, but like fellow "X-Factor" alum Fifth Harmony, One Direction has claimed that they are taking a "hiatus." However, all of the band members have since released solo singles and/or albums.
