"I would like to say, that due to stress, me needing to stay focused, the media, etc," she tweeted Friday. "I am deciding my marriage needs a break. My heart breaks for my kids. But as of right now, this is what's best. Thank you."
When speaking to Us Weekly Saturday, the "Teen Mom 3" star unloaded on her now ex, calling him a "horrible person."
"Turns out, Josh is not a good man whatsoever," Mackenzie told the publication. "Watching the show and catching him in lies, seeing how independent he is, I realize I deserve better."
"I have fought for this marriage for many years, and lately, I've really opened my eyes to what a horrible person he is," she added.
The couple, who began dating in 2009, married in August 2013 and share three children: Gannon, 7, Jaxie, 5 and Broncs, 3. Mackenzie and Josh first appeared on "16 & Pregnant" in 2011 and joined "Teen Mom 3" later that year. The reality stars currently appear on "Teen Mom OG."
After a fan tweeted on Friday that the couple "seemed solid," Mackenzie replied, "We were. We were truly best friends. It's all just devastating."
When another person expressed they "could tell" Josh "fully didn't" love her, Mackenzie expressed, "I know in my heart he loves me. This was my decision."
A third follower tweeted: "We all have a person we will always have feelings for even after everything. Its so damn weird. It's always something so simple that makes all the memories flood back into your mind. Love is a crazy thing"; Mackenzie concurred "Love is just stupid."

Also on Friday, Mackenzie took to Instagram to announce her now single life. However, she has since deleted the post.
"Freshly single and ready to, be the boss babe that I am and let God lead me to what i deserve," she captioned a selfie. Before she removed the post, McKee pointed out that the selfie "is an old photo so my ring is on."
The "16 & Pregnant" alum also updated her Instagram bio to read, "God first. Single mom," according to People. However, as of Saturday morning, her bio reads, "God first. You can watch me on Tv and Youtube. Allow me to help you get healthy and fit bookings Gina@gitoni.com."
Mackenzie's tweets are still active. Check them out, below.
To the girls (I know who you are) who called in. Nice try 💗

Although Mackenzie didn't specify what the split was over, she did appear to suggest some women had tried to move in on her man.
"To the girls (I know who you are) who called in. Nice try," she tweeted Friday, right before announcing the split.
Some people believe the tweet was in reference to a recent episode of "Teen Mom OG," which was Mackenzie and Josh's first appearance on the show. In the episode, Mackenzie worried her husband had cheated on her. After Josh went out to a Texas bar, Mackenzie received a text from a woman who claimed she saw him. The mom of three then confronted her husband, who denied anything happened.
"We decided to stick around and have some beers and I guess someone was there and we just got talking about this or that, and that was it," Josh said. "There was no affection or anything like that there."
He added, "I was scared to tell you that I was at a bar."
"Teen Mom OG" airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
