Don Lemon on Jeffrey Lord's CNN Firing, Scaramucci-Colbert And the One Question He'd Ask The Mooch (Exclusive)

"I would like to have The Mooch on as well so we'll see,” Lemon told TooFab. "I can't wait to hear what he has to say because he hasn't really done any interviews."

TooFab chatted with Lemon at Out Magazine's Power 50 Gala Presented by Genesis on Thursday night in Los Angeles, where the CNN host was being honored.

When asked what he thought of Wednesday's news that Scaramucci aka The Mooch would be sitting down with Colbert, Lemon said: "Stephen Colbert is a great interviewer and you know, The Mooch is a great interviewee so I can't wait to see it."

Although Lemon praised the CBS late-night host for his interviewing skills, the CNN anchor was confident The Mooch would be in good hands on his program especially because he has one burning question that needs to be answered.

"What is it like to have 15 minutes of fame? Because he really did have 15 minutes," Lemon joked. "I would ask him if he could do it all over again, what would he change? Would he change the interview and will he ever trust another reporter again?"

Scaramucci was fired from the White House after controversial statements he made during a phone interview with The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza were published. The former communication director ripped his White House co-workers in a vulgar, profanity-laden rant.

"Reince [Priebus] is a f-cking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac," Scaramucci told Lizza of the former White House Chief of Staff.

As for his now former CNN colleague Jeffrey Lord, Lemon believed his bosses at the network made the right decision firing Lord for giving a Nazi salute towards a critic.

"I wish Jeffrey Lord the very best," he said. "Off camera he is one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet, but we have to be careful about what we do and what we tweet and just because you're not on television, what you do on social media matters as well. Listen, a Nazi symbol is a Nazi symbol or phrase and I don't think that it's acceptable in any circumstance and I think my superiors, my bosses at CNN thought that same way and they chose to severe ties so it is what it is."

Lord, a conservative pro-Trump commentator for CNN was given the boot after he tweeted a Nazi "Seig Heil!" to Media Matters president Angelo Carusone, who pointed out an error in Lord's headline.
