Teresa unloads on Melissa in front of all the Housewives, and the conversation goes from bad to ugly to absolutely cringe-worthy.
Since the beginning of this season of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," Teresa has expressed dissatisfaction with the amount of time her brother, Joe Gorga, spends with their father. She's said it in confessionals, she's said it to her daughters, and on Wednesday's episode, she decided to say it to Melissa in front of all the other Housewives.
And all hell broke loose.
Teresa and Joe's father, Giacinto, has been living with Teresa since his wife died last year -- and Teresa expects Joe to spend just as much time with him as she does. But Joe maintains he's doing his best, given that he runs his own business and has a family of his own.
Melissa's tried to "stay out of it" since the last big Giudice-Gorga blowup, but she had no idea what she was in for Wednesday night -- especially since Teresa was still harboring resentment toward her and Joe for going to the Bahamas on the one-year anniversary of their mother's death. According to Teresa, in Italian families, the one-year anniversary of someone's passing is meant to be spent with family.
With the ladies all in Oklahoma for the weekend, Teresa called her dad to check in on him. When he told her he'd be getting together with Joe, a light bulb went off in her head: "So that's how I get my brother to spend more time with my dad -- make sure Melissa's not there. I mean, it's clear as day. When Melissa's home, he's choosing Melissa over my dad."
When Teresa hung up the phone and went downstairs to join the other ladies for breakfast, she unloaded. "I talked to my dad this morning -- and what would you know, Melissa, Joey is gonna be hanging out with my dad tomorrow night," she blurted out.
"And that shocks you?" Melissa asked, genuinely confused.
"I guess he's hanging out with him because you're not gonna be around," Teresa replied. Melissa maintained that her husband sees Giacinto "all the time during the week," but Teresa was not backing down.
"No, he doesn't. He hung out with him when you guys went hatchet throwing, too," she said. "This is what I realize -- when you're not around, he spends more time with him."
Melissa saw the conversation getting heavy and suggested they talk about it later -- "without a whole audience of people" -- but NOPE! Teresa wanted blood.
Dolores Catania -- who's known the family for over 20 years -- tried to step in and speak on behalf of Teresa. She also brought up the trip to the Bahamas. To Dolores' face, Melissa said, "I think that's none of your business." But in the comfort of her confessional, she went in: "I know Dolores considers herself family, but she's not, so she needs to stay the f--k out of this."
Dolores bringing up the trip gave Teresa the green light to let Melissa have it. "Of all weekends to pick, you had to pick that weekend?" she said.
"What are you saying?! He doesn't love his mother?!" Melissa fired back. "Holy shit! What the f--k are you talking about?!"
Teresa explained she feels she does "everything" for her parents. Then Melissa came back with, "Well, it's a little easier for you because you have a little extra time because you don't have to cater to your husband right now." (Reminder: Teresa's husband is in prison.)
Teresa was stunned but maintained her composure, telling Melissa she's "one person" trying to "do it all" herself.
"Yeah, but is that my problem?" Melissa fired back, suggesting Teresa speak directly with Joe and leave her out of it. "He's gonna explode, and it's gonna be bad," she warned her.
"Then you should make him not f--king explode!" Teresa shouted as she stood up. Melissa yelled back that she had no control over her husband, then asked Teresa if she had control over hers. Teresa said yes without hesitation.
"Can Teresa even hear herself right now?!" Melissa vented during a confessional. "She went to prison for a year because of her husband, and she's still sitting here saying that a wife can control their husband?!"
Melissa eventually told Teresa to "shut [her] f--king mouth," and Teresa stormed off.
Later on, the two put a band-aid over the situation, but nothing was truly resolved. Melissa said she still felt "tolerated" and not loved or accepted by Teresa and predicted an all-out war in the coming episodes.
One can only hope!
