After it was revealed Monday that a federal contractor named Reality Winner was arrested for allegedly leaking an NSA document that showed Russia's attempt at hacking U.S. voting systems to The Intercept, Stephen Colbert said Trump's cabinet is literally at war with Reality.
"So it's official. The Trump administration is at war with Reality." Colbert said on "The Late Show" Tuesday.
Colbert when on to try and figure out what this hack could potentially mean for Trump, and to him, the best case scenario would be a whole new election.
"Who really knows who won November 8th now — I mean other than Vladimir Putin," he said.
"I'm a little rusty on my Constitution, but I guess that means new election?" Colbert said.
"Now, all along, Donald Trump has said the entire Russia story is 'fake news,' and there is no way to know whether this document that was released is real. Other than the fact that the leaker was immediately arrested.”
Colbert declared that the evidence claiming Russia was responsible for hacking the U.S. voting system was real to "everyone but the guy who did it, Vladmir Putin."
