The "Divorce" star appeared on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" Wednesday and revealed that although the movie isn't in the works just yet -- due to Kim Cattrall turning down the chance to play Samantha again --she's still determined to make it happen.
"I think there's a period of grief, a mourning process, and then perhaps we'll be able to consider, say for instance, you playing Samantha," SJP said.
"So me," Ellen responded. "That's who I identify with on that show. I am a sexual beast. I talk about it a lot, I do it a lot. This is a façade. When you meet me as a real person out in the world -- this is my 'talk show' persona."
The exchange comes after a whole lot of drama occurred in late September when SJP confirmed that the possibility of a third movie was dead. Reports subsequently emerged claiming Cattrall's "outrageous demands" and lack of interest were holding up the project.
"I'm disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story," SJP said in an interview. "It's not just disappointing that we don't get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie."
"Now at this very moment it's quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I've been saying for almost a year of 'no' that I'm demanding or a diva," Cattrall said. "And this is really where I take to task the people from 'Sex and the City,' and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker, in that I think she could have been nicer."
With all of the drama and dreaming aside, SJP still doesn't know when and how the movie will come together.
"Last week I said no because it's a brutal companion, but I feel like maybe, I don't know, I just have to make up an answer because I have absolutely no idea," SPJ said. "You know, who knows."
