Stars claim Trump fired the former Exxon Mobil CEO for calling him a moron and publicly speaking out against Russia.
The revolving door at the White House just keeps spinning, with the latest name flying out of it being the one attached to the now former Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson. President Donald Trump fired Tillerson on Tuesday morning, which came as both a shock and at the same time is anything really shocking on Capitol Hill anymore?
After the news broke, Hollywood immediately erupted via Twitter with theories as to why he was booted.
One theory: The former Exxon Mobil CEO was canned after reportedly calling Trump a moron -- his office ultimately denied it, though his only response was, "I'm not going to deal with petty stuff like that." This led to a ridiculous public feud between the two men culminating in Trump telling Forbes, "I think it's fake news, but if he did that, I guess we'll have to compare IQ tests, and I can tell you who is going to win."
Still, others more entrenched in the Russian collusion theory surrounding the Trump White House suspect Tillerson's ouster may have more to do with his publicly stating on Monday that he believed Russia was behind the nerve gas attack against a former Russian spy in the U.K. While the British Prime Minster Theresa May also made that declaration, the White House has not backed this assertion. Trump replaced Tillerson with the more loyal CIA chief Mike Pompeo.
Below are some of the most pointed and passionate responses to the firing from Hollywood's elite:
Conviently fired after suggesting the truth about Russia. Elected Republicans, you are putting your country at risk by putting the party over the country. This is madness. Absolute madness. https://t.co/rikSCl5W2z— Josh Gad (@joshgad) March 13, 2018
This...isn’t...normal!!!! https://t.co/4RBewBbrBv— Josh Gad (@joshgad) March 13, 2018
Putin: Fire Tillerson@POTUS: Yes master— andy lassner (@andylassner) March 13, 2018
Got to hand it to Putin, he certainly fired Rex quickly.— Michael Ian Black (@michaelianblack) March 13, 2018
On the other hand, now Tillerson will have exactly as much influence as he did when he was Secretary of State.— Michael Ian Black (@michaelianblack) March 13, 2018
Trump IS a moron. Moron’s generally don’t want that information revealed publicly. That’s why they hire kiss asses, corrupt people, and bigger morons than themselves. Of course he fired him. Who wants someone who knows your weakness around? https://t.co/T6P9LsQHw5— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) March 13, 2018
Funny how they only tell the truth once they have one foot out the door. https://t.co/tAa69rr42U— George Takei (@GeorgeTakei) March 13, 2018
US Sec of State Rex Tillerson found out he'd been fired on Twitter. I miss the dignity of the 90's when a man could pull into work & see every award, memento, photo, keepsake, of his entire career in a pile on the cement that his psycho boss threw off his 2nd floor office balcony— Tom Arnold (@TomArnold) March 13, 2018
Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 13, 2018
I guess Rex Tillerson was a little too sane for Trump. Pompeo is more Trump’s speed.— Stephen King (@StephenKing) March 13, 2018
This is from yesterday. Today Tillerson was fired. Trump continuously cries ‘No Collusion’ while openly colluding. For the first time in US history, our President is a traitor to our country. https://t.co/nkEBIZM3M0— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) March 13, 2018
And let's also remember that "Mainstream News" saw the Tillerson firing coming and was called "Fake News" by Trump and his supporters - a reminder that Trump's "Fake News", translated, is "true things I don't want you guys to know." pic.twitter.com/TLYzd64YNM— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) March 13, 2018
Yesterday. Tillerson responds forcefully to Russian nerve agent attack in UK. Today. Tillerson fired.— Anthony Bourdain (@Bourdain) March 13, 2018
So, Rex Tillerson acknowledges Russia isn’t our friend and poisoned the latest father/daughter in Russia, and then he’s replaced. I wonder why? Wake up, Americans who still support Trump. You are Russian now. Taking orders from a foreign enemy is treason.— Chelsea Handler (@chelseahandler) March 13, 2018
Just days ago, trump said “Rex Tillerson isn’t going anywhere” with the exact same certainty in his voice as when he says “NO COLLUSION!”— Ben Wexler (@mrbenwexler) March 13, 2018
Tillerson is supposed to distract from Stormy, which is supposed to distract from gun-reversal, which is supposed to distract from Mueller, which is supposed to distract from losing PA-18, which is supposed to distract from Devos, which is supposed to distract from...— Jeffrey Lieber (@JeffLieber) March 13, 2018
Relentless CHAOS— Wilson Cruz (@wcruz73) March 13, 2018
This is NOT normal. It’s an attempt at slight of hand.
We see you @realDonaldTrump. We will not be distracted. ✊🏽
Replace “Rex Tillerson” with any one of the dozens of people Trump has hired and fired in the past 14 months.— Beau Willimon (@BeauWillimon) March 13, 2018

The saddest thing about TrumpWorld is the abused dogs who still wag their tails long after their master has abandoned them in the rain. https://t.co/qhItDx853n— Ken Tremendous (@KenTremendous) March 13, 2018
The removal of Rex Tillerson is further proof that our president is bereft of policy. What he has is a very small dick that he waves indiscriminately until he finds some place to stick it.— Ron Perlman (@perlmutations) March 13, 2018
