The "Welcome to Marwen" star was riding his bike in Los Angeles when the accident happened.
Ellen DeGeneres just got more proof that Steve Carell is one of the coolest, nicest guys working in Hollywood.
The actor stopped by her daytime talk show Wednesday and revealed to her that he got hit by a car recently while riding his bike around his Los Angeles neighborhood, which is really close to Ellen's studio on the Warner Bros. lot. Most people would probably be pretty pissed, but Carell described it as "fun," because the woman who hit him turned out to be a fan.

View Story"The woman who was driving the car jumped out and she was distraught, obviously," the actor explained. "And I went over to her and my bike was kind of stuck under the front of her car, and she's going, "Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God, it's Steve Carell!' And she was so excited that she hit me. It was really kind of a fun experience, like a fun fan encounter."
There's a lesson to be learned from Carell's story for any avid cyclists out there, too. Tuck and roll, folks!
"They hit me from behind, so I went up over the handle bars and I -- it's a weird experience, because everything just slows down -- and I thought I'm just going to tuck and roll," he explained. "And I rolled and I got up, and I was fine. Luckily, everything was fine."
Carell surviving a car crash with a smile on his face is the icing on the cake for his very, very good 2018. His movies "Beautiful Boy" and "Vice" are both serious Oscar contenders, and he takes the lead in "Welcome to Marwen," which looks like it could be the feel-good blockbuster of the winter when it hits theaters on Dec. 21.
